Therapeutic yoga · Edinburgh
I trained first as a physiotherapist and came to yoga late, and sceptically. What convinced me was not a posture but a patient — a man of sixty-one, told his back was 'wear and tear', who got his life back by moving deliberately for twenty minutes a day.
Loweddy is built around that. Classes are capped at ten. Nobody is asked to do a shape they cannot control. If something hurts we change it, in front of everyone, because watching a teacher adapt is how you learn to adapt for yourself.
I still work alongside physiotherapists and will say plainly when yoga is not the answer — more often than the wellness industry admits.
If you are coming back from surgery, or told to 'keep moving' without being told how, this is the room for that.
